NORTHERN CAPE - POSTMASBURG - 2 SECURITY GUARDS RAPED TRAIN ACCIDENT SCENE!

Two men were sentenced to between 12 and 15-years behind bars last week, for the rape of two female guards stationed at an accident scene of a derailed train near Postmasburg, said Northern Cape police on Wednesday.

Steven Moseki (24) was sentenced to an effective 1 years’ imprisonment for raping a 31-year old woman, and Hermanus Balie (35) was jailed for 15 years for raping a 30-year old woman in April last year.

 

During the course of the trial it was revealed five men approached the two women who were posted as guards at the scene of a train derailment. The men threatened the women with guns and forcefully took them into the veld.

 

The women were handcuffed with their own handcuffs and then raped.

 

“The suspects robbed the victims of their cell phones and then they fled the scene with an unknown vehicle. At the time of the incident, copper cables were also stolen from the train,” said police spokesperson Lieutenant Sergio Kock.

A few weeks after the incident police arrested the five suspects in Dingleton and Kathu. Three of the suspects were acquitted on charges of armed robbery and theft.

“Steven Moseki and Hermanus Balie however changed their plea from not guilty to guilty on the rape charges and were sentenced as above,” said Kock.
