MPUMALANGA - WARRANT OF ARREST ISSUED FOR MAN WHO RAPED HIS 9 YEAR OLD SISTER IN LAW

A warrant of arrest has been issued against a man in Mpumalanga accused of raping a 9-year-old girl – his sister-in-law – after he failed to appear in court on Thursday.
The accused, who is 26, was scheduled to appear in the Tonga Regional Court where his family members were expected to testify against him.

“I will postpone the case and also issued a warrant of arrest, which will be valid until the next court appearance,” Magistrate Edgar Moletsane said on Thursday.

 

The accused’s wife, his brother in-law and his son were in court to testify against him.

Previously, his mother in-law testified how she caught the accused raping her daughter in Sibayeni village near the Swazi and Mozambican border on June 29.

“I was so shocked to find my son-in-law on top of my little girl. I called him once by his name and asked him why he was killing my daughter and he jumped and stood on his feet.

“Even though the light was off I managed to see him through my neighbour’s spot light which had lit the door in the children’s room,” she said.

The mother further testified that her son-in-law punched her in the face and fled the scene.
“My husband arrived quickly. We decided with my sons that we should go to his house. When we got there, my elder daughter, who had a child with the accused, opened the door for us,” she said.
The accused has pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The matter was postponed to August 26
