Thusi (29) appeared in the Empangeni Magstrate’s Court on 24 August 2015 facing three counts of rape and was remanded in custody until 31 August 2015 for bail application.On 20 August 2015, a 22-year-old woman was at Empangeni CBD when she was lured by a man who promised her a job; he took her to a secluded area and raped her before fleeing the scene. She immediately informed Empangeni FCS police and the suspect was arrested and charged.
A formal identity parade was held and the suspect was positively identified by three victims, aged 15 and 19, who were also lured by him. It is alleged that during the period of February 2015 to April 2015, the suspect would lure his victims by promising them employment before raping them.
