Mahwelereng - a ruthless serial rapist and murderer of three women was sentenced on Monday, 28 September 2015 to 6 life terms with an additional 110 years which is not to run concurrently.
The sentencing was passed late Monday afternoon in the Mahwelereng Regional Court in Limpopo.
Johannes Ledwaba 42 terrorised communities in the Mapela area outside Mahwelereng between 2002 and 2011.
The suspect was convicted on 14 cases of rape, three of murder and two of robbery.
The cases were successfully investigated by Lt Monene of FCS Mahwelereng, assisted by the expertise of an experienced team from the provincial head office.
The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Limpopo, Lt Genl Fannie Masemola congratulated the team for their sterling investigative work which lead to the successful arrest and conviction of Ledwaba
