The body of a 5-year-old girl who was raped and possibly strangled to death has been found in Pacaltsdorp near George, police have confirmed.In a statement on Thursday, police spokesperson Malcolm Pojie said Natalie Baartman’s half-naked body was found on Monday, approximately 50m from her family's home.
An autopsy revealed that Baartman was raped and possibly died due to suffocation.
An SABC reporter and EWN tweeted that a 31-year-old man had been arrested on Thursday in connection with the murder.
EWN said the suspect was an acquaintance of the family.
Police could not be reached to confirm the arrest.
