JOHANNESBURG - WOMAN GANG RAPED BY 3 MEN AFTER LEAVING PARTY

Kagiso Police arrested three suspects on Wednesday, 8 February at 8pm after they had allegedly gang-raped a female complainant almost a week earlier.

It is alleged the complainant was visiting her cousin in Tshepisong Phase 6 on 4 February at about 2.20pm. They spent a few hours together before she decided to leave to go to a party. She arrived at the party at about 6pm. She allegedly met the four suspects at the party and they sat together. The complainant claims she had seen the suspects in the neighbourhood before, but didn’t know their names.

She left the party at about 10pm. It is alleged that three of the four men followed her. As soon as they were a few metres from the party venue, they grabbed her and dragged her to a nearby house. Once they were inside, the suspects switched off the lights and took turns raping her. The complainant reported the matter to the police later, and was able to identify the suspects.

Police investigated the matter, searched for the suspects and eventually arrested them. They were later detained at the Kagiso Police Station, where they were charged with rape.

The suspects made a brief appearance in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court, but were remanded in custody for a formal bail application.
