JOHANNESBURG - LINDEN COP ACCUSED OF RAPING WOMAN IN POLICE CELL!

The trial of a suspended police officer accused of raping a woman held overnight in a police cell was postponed again.

The 45-year-old sergeant‚ who cannot be named yet because he is accused of a sexual offence‚ appeared at the Randburg Magistrate's Court and the case was postponed for further investigation.

He allegedly raped a woman who was arrested and detained at the Linden police station in Johannesburg in June last year.

During the sergeant's bail application‚ the court heard from investigating officer Zelda Maphosho that he allegedly went into the cell where the woman was being held alone and started touching and threatening her. He then allegedly raped her using a condom‚ which was later found floating in the toilet in the cell.

Afterwards he allegedly gave her a bar of soap to bath.

Magistrate Hleziphe Nkasibe on Thursday postponed the case to April 21.

The man is out on bail of R10‚000.
