CAPE TOWN - MAKHAZA - WOMAN RAPED REPEATEDLY AS BOYFRIEND BLEEDS TO DEATH FROM GUNSHOT WOUND!

August has again highlighted the plight of vulnerable women and the government has renewed the call to do more to protect them.

On the eve of Women’s Day, a young deaf woman watched her boyfriend bleed to death, shot by the man who was raping her in Makhaza on the Cape Flats.

The woman and her boyfriend were leaving a nearby tavern when they were followed home where the attacker forced his way into their room.

Her boyfriend was shot while trying to protect her, she was then repeatedly raped.

"It's time that the state provide psychologists in our broken communities. Some of these suggestions are things that we will take to the national general council because there is something wrong in the psyche of our communities and the psyche of society. I do believe that yes we've done a lot on the material realities of our people but we didn't do enough on the damages caused by apartheid on the psyche of our society," says ANC Western Cape chairperson, Marius Fransman.

Women of all ages in the informal settlement, say they feel more vulnerable than ever.

“We don't feel safe. Every day there is something happening to women. They are raped, they are robbed that is happening on a daily basis so we would like as women to have a mobile police station, I think that will help us," says one woman.

Police are investigating a murder and rape case.
