FREE STATE - 18 YEAR OLD RAPED DURING VIOLENT HOUSE ROBBERY

An 18-year-old girl was raped during a house robbery at Jerusalema Park, Thabong on Friday.

The girl was preparing supper, when she heard a knock at the kitchen door.

According to the victim, she heard the voice of one of the tenants who was renting an outside room in the family’s back yard.

The police’s Sergeant Mamello Mokhuoane said in a statement; “She opened the door and saw that the tenants hands were tied up with a belt and a T-shirt. The victim attempted to close the door when four unknown men allegedly pushed the door open and forced their way into the house”.

“One of the suspects pulled the woman by her hair to the main bedroom and demanded her cellphone. The mother of the victim was in the bedroom and the suspects started to assault her and demanded money and cellphones”.

The tenant was dragged into the main bedroom and assaulted by one of the suspects.

The girl’s younger brother then went to the bedroom to check what was happening, when the suspects allegedly started assaulting him as well.

The three victims (mother, tenant and the brother) were tied up with extension cords.

“It is alleged the 18-year-old woman was taken to another bedroom where she was raped by one of the suspects. The father of victim arrived at the house on which the suspects took him to the main bedroom. The four suspects fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash, cellphones, laptops and other electric appliances”.

“The victim managed to untie herself and ask the neighbours for help. The Thabong police were summoned to the scene a case of house robbery and rape were open for further investigation. The cellphone of one of the suspects was recovered at the scene”.

The girl identified the suspect that had raped her, from a picture that was on her cellphone.

However, the picture cannot be issued for publication due to the advanced stage of the investigation.

The case was transferred to Detective Constable Pontsho Mokoena of Cluster Thabong Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit.
