A 28-year-old man is on Friday expected to appear in the Paarl Magistrates Court facing a charge of rape.Police Spokesperson Frederick van Wyk confirmed that the suspect was arrested at Paarl East and will be appearing on Friday facing a rape charge at the Paarl Magistrates Court.
A local councillor Joseph Mathee said, shortly after the residents heard about the incident, they became very angry and assaulted the suspect and that is when the police came and arrested him.
A relative of the girl said the 4-year-old was raped at the suspects house and was believed to be a relative.
“This is very upsetting, children are a gift from God and they should be protected,” said Mathee.
