GAUTENG - WOMAN TIED UP AND RAPED NEAR ZUURFONTEIN!

A 55-year-old woman, travelling by taxi from Germiston to Modderfontein, was raped and left tied up in bushes next to Zuurfontein Road on Monday evening.

According to the spokesperson for Sebenza SAPS, Sgt Sharon Tsotsotso, the taxi driver told the woman he was no longer going to Modderfontein and dropped her off close to China Gate around 8.30pm.

“The victim did not know the area and asked a man passing by to help her get to Modderfontein. The man took her through the bushes and started strangling her,” said Tsotsotso.

The victim was tied up with shoe laces and raped by the man who ran away, leaving the victim naked in the bushes.

“We are still looking for the suspect. The victim said she would be able to identify the man who did it. We suspect it might be one of the illegal squatters that live not far from where the incident happened,” said Tsotsotso.

The victim managed to free herself and got help from the nearest garage from where she was taken to the police.

“We urge all community members and anyone traveling late at night, especially taxi users, if you do no know your surroundings, please go to the nearest garage and do not trust anyone on the street,” said Tsotsotso.
